NDIA ACCELERATES GREEN ELECTRICITY STORAGE
India is rapidly developing its renewable energy storage capacity to reduce its reliance on coal. After installing 168 gigawatts of solar capacity in five years, the country is now focusing on lithium batteries to store energy produced during the day and redistribute it at night. Electricity storage is expected to reach 45 GWh by the end of March. This strategy supports the government's goal of having 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity within four years, while simultaneously limiting greenhouse gas emissions.
