MONTENEGRO CLOSERS TO THE EUROPEAN UNION
The European Commission believes that Montenegro is on track to join the European Union in 2028. The country has already provisionally closed 21 of the 33 negotiation chapters and could complete accession talks as early as the end of 2026. Brussels welcomes the reforms undertaken, while calling for continued efforts in the areas of the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
